Winter schedule to begin January 2, 2018
MILLVILLE, NJ (December 22, 2017) – Wheaton Arts and Cultural Center begins its winter operating schedule on January 2, 2018. During the months of January, February and March the Museum Stores will only be open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. No ticket is required to shop and stroll the grounds. The Museum of American Glass and the Artist Studios will be closed during these three months. The Museum and the Studios will reopen on Tuesday, April 3 when WheatonArts returns to its six-day operating schedule.
WheatonArts is a participant in Museums on Us®, a customer-benefit program offering free admission for a Bank of America cardholder to the finest museums and cultural institutions from coast to coast on the first full weekend of each month of 2018. In February and March, each Bank of America customer that shows their Bank of America card and their I.D. on the program dates will receive a “20% Off A Single-Item” coupon valid in one museum store.
Join the fun and create with us! During the 2018 winter season, WheatonArts offers free Family Art Workshops every other weekend. These Workshops take place in the Gallery of Fine Craft at WheatonArts. All materials are provided. The workshops include Baubles and Beads: Jewelry Design, Saturday, January 13 and 27; Watercolor Resist Painting: DIY Valentines, Saturday, February 10; DIY Spinner Toy, Saturday, February 24; Cut Paper Collage, Saturday, March 10; and Printmaking: Monoprints, Saturday, March 24. Reservations are encouraged. Walk-ins welcome if seats are available.
WheatonArts will present the Mid-Winter Antiques Show on February 3 and 4. This show attracts over 40 quality dealers and hundreds of visitors from the Mid-Atlantic region. Located in the Event Center, attendees will be able to explore a wide selection of antique furniture, books, ceramics, glass, jewelry, linens, memorabilia, paper, toys, pottery, primitives, and vintage accessories. Hours: Saturday, February 3 – Members Preview at 9:30 a.m. General Public from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Sunday, February 4, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $5.00 per person.
WheatonArts, in conjunction with The Garden Patch Quilters, will present the biennial “A Garden of Quilts” Quilt Show on March 10 and 11, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. The event showcases over 150 traditional and contemporary quilts in the WheatonArts Event Center. This judged Quilt Show recognizes quality work and provides quilters with an evaluation of their work. Visitors will be able to see a wide variety of quilt displays, specialty fabric and supplies merchants, quilting and embellishing demonstrations, and other unique quilt-related exhibits. Admission for this event is $5.00 per person.
Dedicated to the mission of engaging artists and audiences in an evolving exploration of creativity, WheatonArts is proud to partner with the New Jersey Theater Alliance and the Pushcart Players to offer a free afternoon of performing arts. For 2018, the Pushcart Players will present a production of Peter and the Wolf on Saturday, March 24 at 2:00 p.m. in the WheatonArts Event Center. The Stages Festival is the state’s largest annual theatre festival, offering discounted and free theatre performances, workshops, and events for all ages.
