MeKo Designs, Vicky and Meg, began their love affair with glass as young women.  They were excited about the movement and thrilled to see all the growth and change within the movement.  After visiting Italy, separately with their families, they came together determined to find a place within the movement where they would fit.

They were fortunate to become apprentices in a major glass studio/company in Brooklyn, NY.  They studied and worked with them for several years. This gave them the technical foundation so necessary to allow them to pursue a direction of their own.

Initially, they began with metal and glass together, Incorporating all the design elements they learned from numerous classes at the local colleges and design workshops.

Gradually the work veered toward the human form – specifically the faces.  The work evolved and the influence of major studies and classes showed them a new direction – large standing pieces in metal forms. Now the challenge lies in a new visualization – working with basic geometric forms and interacting them with thick layered glass.

These two professional artists are cutting edge in concept and making new pieces.  They play against each other and incorporate both of their ideas in each piece.

The question is – where will they go next?
