Paper Fortune Cookies
Try your luck and make cookies that will never crumble! Use these paper fortune cookies as party favors, unique valentines, or send fun messages to friends & family.
Materials:
- Patterned Paper
- A Small Lid (3” or 4”)
- Scissors
- Construction Paper
- Pen
- Pencil
- Glue Dots
Step 1: Trace the round lid onto a piece of patterned paper. Cut the completed circles out.
Step 2: Cut small strips of paper for the fortunes. Use a pen to write notes on the strips. Look online for them, or come up with them on your own. Please wait for the ink to dry before handling it to avoid smudges.
Step 3: Place a glue dot on the edge of the circle on the non-patterned side.
Step 4: Gently fold the paper over to hold opposite sides together by the glue dot. Do not flatten and crease the paper.
Step 5: Take the half-moon shaped patterned paper. Put your thumb on one end, your middle finger on the other, and push the center inwards with your pointer finger. Keep folding until it goes in half. Make sure to use your second hand to fold the edge under as you fold the paper.
Step 6: Place a glue dot where the paper folds so that the two halves stick together.
Ideas to take your paper fortune cookies to the next level:
- Use string and a tapestry needle to string the paper fortune cookies together to create a garland.
- Challenge yourself by creating a truly unique paper fortune cookie by designing new patterns on paper. Use stamps or markers to draw your patterns on the paper before cutting and shaping.
