Open Late for Two Wheaton Wednesdays

Millville, NJ (June 25, 2024) – WheatonArts and Cultural Center is offering two free late Wednesdays this summer on July 17 and August 14. Experience the grounds for the extended hours of 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. There will be free art activities for the whole family to enjoy and design contests in the Glass and Pottery Studios. Step inside the Museum of American Glass and Folklife Center for special exhibit tours, participate in a campus-wide scavenger hunt, hear live music, enjoy a bit to eat, and more. Wheaton Wednesday dates are FREE to the public, part of WheatonArts Family Days! Presented by PNC Arts Alive!

Wheaton Wednesday highlights on July 17 and August 14 include:
• Enjoy free family art activities such as the Sidewalk Chalk Station, the Butterfly Stick Puppets and Monarch Life Cycle Coloring Page (July 17), Finger Labyrinths (August 14), and Easel Art Using Pastels.
• Visit the Butterfly Tent hosted by Rutgers Master Gardeners on July 17 to learn about the lifecycle of butterflies and experience the sensation of being surrounded by live butterflies.
• Take a tour of the Folklife Center to experience the current exhibit Ceremonies in Circles featuring traditional West African masks, garments, woodcarvings, and ceremonial objects used in special rituals and community celebrations.
• Gain inspiration from the Folklife Center’s exhibition to design your own mask. Our Glass Studio Team will sculpt select designs out of molten glass!
• Submit a bird bath design on July 17 for our ceramic artists to make! At the end of the day, one adult and one child design will be picked to be reproduced in clay.
• Submit a jack-o-lantern design on August 14 for our ceramic artists to make! At the end of the day, one adult and one child design will be picked to be reproduced in clay.
• Visit the Museum for special tours of the new exhibition, Centuries of Tomfoolery: Trick Glasses, Pipes, & Whimsical Delights. Discover how contemporary glassmakers use practical archaeology to understand Renaissance drinking games and party tricks.
• Create a fused glass magnet, pendant, or suncatcher in the Education Studio for a discounted fee of $10 per magnet/pendant and $20 per suncatcher.
• Trunk Shows in the Gallery of Fine Craft by Flamework Artists Chris Coffman and Susan Boyce
