I am a self-taught painter and jewelry designer who has been crafting art-inspired, silver designs for three years. Every piece in my silver jewelry collection is meticulously handcrafted to be “perfectly imperfect.” I love unusual, unexpected curves and textures, and this aesthetic is reflected in all my designs. Working with a clay form of pure silver, I design and sculpt unique jewelry creations that incorporate precious and semi-precious gemstones. For me, there is a type of Zen involved in the sculpting, sanding, and finishing processes of silver. I love when flashes of inspiration take me off course, forcing me to test my medium’s boundaries.
Somehow embracing the unexpected, along with my penchant for using traditional components in non-traditional ways, seems to all come together. There are endless possibilities, so I’m endlessly excited to explore and test new techniques. Sometimes ideas are sparked by the purity of bird’s call or flutter that reminds me of an earrings sway. I’m always a little surprised by what comes next, and that’s fun for me as an artist. I’m humbled that people choose to wear my creations, and this is always in the back of my mind, inspiring me to take my work to the next level.
