Mayumi Miyake graduated from the Toyama Institute of Glass in March 2004.  She has had three solo exhibitions in Toyama, Tokyo, and Tokushima in 2004.  Her work has been seen at the International Exhibition of Glass, Kanazawa, Contemporary Glass Exhibition in Satsuma, and many various group exhibitions and contests.  She has won several awards including the Special Prize in 2002 at the Contemporary Glass Triennial in Toyama and the Outstanding Prize for the Toyama City Art and Crafts Scholarship.  Her work has been published in NEW GLASS and Glass and Art. Miyake captures the Japanese spirit in her minimal cast forms.  In her words, “Things authentic are simple.”
