Maret Sarapu
Maret Sarapu (b. 1978) started her studies of glass art at the Estonian Academy of Arts (EAA) in 1997. After being an exchange student at the University of Industrial Arts of Helsinki in Finland, she graduated with a BA degree in 2002 and obtained her MA degree (cum laude) in 2005. Part of her MA graduation work “To Dare Or Not To Dare” was also chosen for the Coburg Glass Prize 2006 exhibition.
Her inspiration arises from the elements of local, Northern European natures, native ornaments and motifs and the options these provide for personal self-identification.
Her favorite techniques are kiln techniques, especially thin-layered pâte de verre.
