Marbled Paper
Let’s have a sensory experience while creating art at home! This time we are gathering items from the bathroom and kitchen to create beautiful, custom patterned paper.
Materials:
- Shaving Cream
- Liquid Food Coloring
- Wooden Skewer
- White Cardstock
- Ruler/Straight Edge
- Cookie Sheet
Step 1: Spray shaving cream onto the cookie sheet. Spread with your hands to create a thin layer.
Step 2: Squeeze drops of food coloring on top of the shaving cream.
Step 3: Use a wooden skewer to swirl the food coloring throughout the shaving cream. Make sure not to over-stir!
Step 4: Once your pattern is ready, place a sheet of cardstock on top of the shaving cream and gently press down.
Step 5: Slowly pull the cardstock away from the shaving cream and place on a dry surface with the shaving cream side UP.
Step 6: Starting on one side, use the ruler to scrape off the shaving cream in one smooth motion. Discard used shaving cream into a trash can and allow the paper to dry.
Learning and Discussion Questions:

B. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tPZF9zH2dLo
2. Did your food coloring swirls mix in the shaving cream? Did they create any new colors? Which colors mixed, and what colors did they produce?
3. How will you use your paper? Some ideas include stationery to write letters and cards, to create cut-paper artwork, and to use as an element in a collage or scrapbook.
