Celeste Wilson
Celeste Wilson received her BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design and has also studied at the Haystack Mountain School of Craft, Pilchuck Glass School and the Pittsburgh Glass Center. In addition to her formal training, Wilson has worked in a dozen glass shops, assisting noteworthy artists such as Deborah Czeresko, Jamie Harris and Josiah McElheny.
She received exceptional training in all processes of glass and is constantly trying to push the material further than what she already knows. The conceptual aspect of Wilson’s work is always surrounding the material itself; and the interest in fragility, chemical composition, transparency and most simply, its uniqueness. Wilson is involved in many projects, design productions and fine art installations all centering around the material of glass.
She has received many awards including the RISD Glass Department Award of Excellence (2010) and the Pilchuck/RISD Partner Scholarship (2008). Wilson currently lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.
