Bruce Weiner Clay Artist
Glenside, PA
I have worked as an artist and teacher in Montgomery county Pennsylvania for over 40 years. As an artist, I have chosen to work with clay because of the inherent beauty and durability of the material.
I received my Master’s Degree from Temple University Tyler School of Art. I also studied sculpture at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia and worked as an apprentice at the Moravian Tile Works in Doylestown, Pennsylvania.
My work is heavily influenced by time spent in South East Asia while in the Navy, where I had the opportunity to study folk art and wood carving.
My mosaics and tiles are crafted mostly from terra cotta clay and hand glazed in cobalt blue and copper-chrome green glaze.
Because all work is handmade, there will always be a subtle variation in the finished product. Each piece has a character of its own.
Beyond my line or tiles, I will be displaying wheel-thrown pottery, and one of a kind hand built stoneware vessels for the first time in many years.
