Paper quilling uses strips of paper that are rolled around a feather quill, hat pin, toothpick, or modern quilling tool to make various size circles that are then pinched into desired shapes. These shapes are ultimately combined to make a design.

After initial experimentation with paper quilling at a local craft group, I continued experimenting with new techniques and my own designs. In 1998 my business, Beth’s Quilling & Crafts, was started in order to sell my designs, and my paper-quilled creations continue to be sold at art and fine craft shows within New Jersey and neighboring states. Since 2003 my works have received increasing acceptance into Art shows, and in 2020 I opened an Etsy Shop-Bethsquillingcrafts.

My educational background is in the biological sciences, and this is reflected in my designs which tend to be nature oriented. Flowers are the most represented subject in my collection of works thus far. However, I have quilled a number of birds and animals in more recent works. My experimentation with roses has led to the inclusion of paper sculpture with paper quilling to extend the scope of my designs.
