Experience and Connect

Come to WheatonArts and immerse yourself in creativity! Visiting our Artists Studios gives you first-hand contact with artists while they work.

Converse and ask questions, or simply listen to one of our talented narrators explain the process from start to finish. Watch live demonstrations to learn how each material is shaped and worked into finished objects.

An Artist Community

At WheatonArts, the creative process is as mission-critical as the objects collected and exhibited. While glassmaking remains one of our strongest assets, presenting it in context with other art forms is considered key to providing creative cross-fertilization. We hope to honor and share the creative process by realizing artistic vision and dialogue based on ideas, not solely on a specific material.

WheatonArts has three permanent Artist Studios: Glass, Flamework, and Pottery. The Glass Studio is one of the first public access amphitheater-style studios in the country and home to the Creative Glass Fellowship Program. The Pottery and Flameworking Studios offer numerous educational opportunities for visitors while ensuring an enriched dialogue, visual and otherwise.

WheatonArts is constantly hosting contemporary and traditional artists in many different capacities. Whether they are the recipients of the Creative Glass Fellowship residencies, guest artists for special events, instructors, or independent artists renting our facilities, they contribute to a dynamic artist community that feeds to the visitor experience and institutional vitality.

We invite our guests to visit the Studios, offering a unique public access level to working artists and their creative processes. Balancing this high level of visibility to the public, with the environment needed to focus and create, is an ongoing priority. We ask that all visitors respect the studios as the artist’s professional workspace.
