Can I learn how to work with glass at WheatonArts?

We do offer a highly personal introduction to glass in the form of our “Make-Your-Own” Programs. You can create a paperweight design, blow a bowl or vase form, create fused glass plates, and even make glass beads with the help of one of our glass artists for a fee. You must be 16 years of age with a guardian’s signature age 16 to 19.

How can I receive more information about the Fellowship Program and/or related events?

Most information about our programs is available here on the website.

You can call or e-mail the WheatonArts office to request that the information be sent to you via mail.

Can I rent the Glass Studio at WheatonArts?

Yes, the Glass Studio is available for rent in-between our fellowship sessions and programming.

Is the Fellowship Program only open to artists working in glass?

Fellows are expected to be proficient in the processes and techniques represented in their application goals, and to work together, supporting one another as partners for all blowing and casting projects. Artists using other materials are welcome to apply, however they must be aware that no technical assistance will be provided. All work from design through annealing and cold-working is the responsibility of the fellowship artist.

How do I apply for the Creative Glass Fellowship Program?

Applications are accepted once a year for the following year’s fellowships. The application deadline is typically in the fall and applicants are notified within six weeks of their application’s status. There is no application fee.

For a more detailed listing of the application requirements or to download an application, Click Here.

You can also contact the WheatonArts office directly to have one sent via mail.

If selected for a fellowship, can I bring assistants with me?

Currently, the six-week fellowship sessions are better set up to accommodate assistants. Each six-week session has only two fellowship artists. For this reason, we encourage assistants during these sessions. The three-month sessions have four artists and we generally encourage fellowship artists to work together, supporting one another as partners for all projects.

Please note that assistants cannot be granted personal studio access. All fellowship artists and assistants are made aware of the general studio policies and practices prior to the start of their session.
