Monique Perry is a traditional metalsmith, metal clay artist, and enamelist. She utilizes techniques from the three disciplines in her pieces, using sterling silver, fine silver, precious metal clay, semi-precious gemstones, enamels, and 22 and 24kt gold accents in her work.
She creates colorful Cloisonné focals by fusing multiple layers of opaque and/or transparent enamels to a prepared base of copper, fine silver, or gold. She then designs and fabricates a setting for the enamel focals in precious metal clay or sterling silver, incorporating semi-precious gemstones in her work depending on the design.
For Champlevé enameled pieces, she creates a highly textured base out of precious metal clay upon which many layers of enamel are applied. For her metal clay work, she is rolling, texturing, cutting, sanding, and sculpting. A patina is applied to most of her work to enhance the texture of the silver. Traditional metal techniques are also used to include sawing, piercing, soldering, riveting, and stone setting.
Monique holds two certifications in Precious Metal Clay and has attained Master Juried Status from the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen. Her work has been published and featured in several publications, including Art Jewelry Magazine, Crafts Report Magazine, Handmade Business Magazine, and Sunshine Artist Magazine.
