Germination Workshop
Saturday, February 27, 2021, at 10 a.m.
CU Maurice River & WheatonArts is teaming up again, this time to transform our entrance’s traffic circle! Funded by the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, this revitalizing project will create a rain garden system and a native plant pollinator garden to help protect the local drinking water supply while supporting pollinators & bird populations.
We invite YOU to help the project grow! CU Maurice River’s Karla Rossini will lead this free & virtual Germination Workshop, covering an overview of the project, the benefits of the plant species selected, how to sow the seeds, and answer any questions about plant care. All the necessary supplies will be provided by CU Maurice River.
Volunteers for this project can pick-up the materials at the WheatonArts Administration Building before the workshop date. Pick-ups will be contactless. There will be one flower species per seed tray, and you can sign up for multiple trays if you would like.
Please plan to return your “grown-up” plants the week of April 26, 2021, to allow us time to organize the planting, which we hope you will also attend, on Saturday, May 1, 2021.
CU Maurice River and WheatonArts’ ongoing partnership is based on developing environmental stewardship and creating outdoor educational spaces on the Center’s grounds. The results have been installing various wildlife management features, the improvement of forest area, and creating an interpretative Nature Trail.
