I graduated with a BFA in Selected Studies through Syracuse University’s School for Visual and Performing Arts in 1978 studying studio arts, ceramics, and special education. My professional work in clay began with basic wheel-thrown and hand-built functional stoneware pottery. Several years later, decorative clay forms and textures became my focus as I pursued carving the clay surface and utilizing acrylic paints instead of glazes on porcelain and terra cotta vessels.

After many years of showing and selling my work at retail shows and galleries throughout the country, I redirected my focus back to teaching after completing a masters program in Special Education at Widener University. I utilized my studio arts and clay background to design and implement the creative curriculum as a teacher of special needs students. I currently continue this work as the Supervisor for TOPS, a JFCS day program for adults with cognitive and physical disabilities, with the development of a ceramic department within the program.

My current work explores combinations of textured and layered slabs of low fire red and white clay enriched by acrylic stains mimicking aged patina and bronzed metals. My work is shown and sold at various juried gallery and museum exhibitions on the east coast as well as retail shows in the NJ area.
