The present series of work is an exploration of the tube form. Using 14K gold and sterling silver, the designs are strong linear and contemporary in presentation, yet strive to maintain a classic quality. There is a play between the warm of the gold & cool of the silver, texture versus smooth surfaces, geometric shapes of the metal with the organic baroque pearls. The work is constructed via torch soldering: acetylene prestolite set up or oxy-acetylene micro torch. The finishing of the pieces begin with hand filing and sanding to two stages of wheel buffing and finally tumble finish with both plastic and steel media. Underlying issues present in my mind as I work include: First and foremost is wearability-the greatest compliment is to know a client wears my pieces everyday. Secondarily, the pieces should never overshadow the wearer, but instead frame or enhance. I am not making work that will ultimately be judged on its own, rather as a merged form with its wearer.

I am a single person studio, so all pieces are solely created by my hands. I received my B.S. from Skidmore College (’85) & M.F.A. from SUNY New Paltz in metals/jewelry (’87).
