Millville, NJ (March 13, 2018) – Wheaton Arts and Cultural Center is participating in The Stages Festival, an annual program of the New Jersey Theatre Alliance that provides free and discounted theatre events for all ages throughout the month of March. They are bringing the Pushcart Player’s production of “Peter and the Wolf” to the WheatonArts Event Center on Saturday, March 24th at 2:00 p.m. Free and open to the public, this show is 50 minutes in length and appropriate for children pre-K through fifth grade and their families.

As described by The Stages Festival, “Peter and the Wolf” is an enchanting production set to the resplendent music by composer Sergei Prokofiev. Each character is represented by a different musical motif in this story of a spirited young boy who confronts the dangers of the forest with courage, creativity, and leadership. With a professional cast (Actors’ Equity Association) who employs various forms of puppetry, singing, and choreography, “Peter and the Wolf” is a universal theatrical celebration that has toured nationally and abroad.

The themes of this story are what make it a timeless classic. Friendship and caring. Arrogance and prejudice. Youth and maturity. Conflict resolution and beauty in the natural order of life. All worthy of celebration! Filled with laughter and love, friendship and feelings, “Peter and the Wolf” offers something special for the whole family.

“The Alliance is grateful that WheatonArts is participating in the 2018 Stages Festival,” said John McEwen, Executive Director of the Alliance. “For 21 years, Stages has provided theatrical experiences for thousands of residents, regardless of age, across New Jersey. These efforts would not be made possible without the wonderful help of our partners such as WheatonArts.”

The Stages Festival offers dozens of performances, workshops, classes, and events at theatres, art centers, libraries, schools, senior centers, and other community venues throughout the state. The program was developed to encourage New Jersey’s residents to attend their local professional theatres by making the experience affordable, accessible, and fun.
