Heather Sutherland
A Virginia native, Heather Sutherland recently graduated from the University of Wisconsin with an MFA in glass. Her body of work combines glass and various materials such as language to depict concepts of gender, commodity, luxury, and labor. Currently, she is exploring career opportunities in Washington. For her most recent exhibition, she collaborated with her partner Tyler Gordon at the Chrysler Glass Studio to perform Savage Beauty. This performance combined a plethora of voices and methods of expression to deconstruction ideas about gender and beauty. She has spent her time working for institutions such as the Chrysler Museum Glass Studio, Tidewater Community College, Pilchuck Glass School, and taught a few summer courses at the University of Wisconsin in Madison.
