WHEATONARTS ANNOUNCES NEW CGCA FELLOWSHIP ARTISTS

MILLVILLE, NJ (April 16, 2016)  – Each year Wheaton Arts and Cultural Center, through the Creative Glass Center of America (CGCA) program, welcomes up to ten visiting artists that want to create and work with glass as a medium.   The Fellowship program, which began in 1983, has provided over 370 Fellowships to professional and emerging artists opportunities to develop and further their work and creative process while experimenting with traditional and innovative glassmaking techniques.

Spring Fellows Morgan Gilbreath of Philadelphia, PA, Tadeas Podracky of Prague, Czech Republic, Nate Ricciuto of Columbus, OH and Norwood Viviano of Plainwell, MI will arrive in mid-April.  Fall Fellows, arriving in the second half of the year are Gustavo Crembil of Argentina, Eric Fischl of Sag Harbor, NY, Rachel Rader of Brooklyn, NY, Anna Riley of Birmingham, AL, Helena Parriott of New York, NY, and Jeff Zimmer of Edinburgh, United Kingdom.   The fellowship opportunity, in which artists are provided 24/7 access to the Glass Studio, studio support, housing, and a stipend, can last up to three months.  Additional information and bios for the artists can be found at wheatonarts.org.

“We’re so excited to welcome a new group of talented Fellows in 2016.  This month we will welcome four contemporary artists whose studio practices are, at times, reactionary to the materials and histories of specific places,” said Pamela Annarilli Weichmann, Associate Director of Education & Artist Services.  “Several of the Fellows plan to create work that revolves around the unique artistic and industrial history of WheatonArts and Millville, NJ.”

To be considered for a CGCA Fellowship, artists must submit an application, which includes a description of intended projects and examples of prior work.
