Wheaton Wide Open Weekend!
WheatonArts Next “Wheaton Wide Open Weekend” is October 28, 29 and 30. Free Admission for Visitors Each Day.
MILLVILLE, NJ – Free admission will be offered to all visitors during WheatonArts’ “Wheaton Wide Open Weekend” on October 28, 29 and 30. The program is part of a series of selected three-day weekends which will continue through December 31, 2016, at WheatonArts.
The series is made possible by grant funding provided through the PNC Arts Alive! initiative. The organization has partnered with local service organizations each weekend. In keeping with the goal of PNC Arts Alive! through these partnerships WheatonArts hopes to expand the arts to new audiences by offering enhanced programming, artist demonstrations, and hands-on family activities. Visitors will be invited to engage in a creative process which is educational, culturally diverse and fun.
The WheatonArts experience includes the Museum of American Glass exhibitions, From The Ground Up: Archaeology, Artisans, Everyday Life through December 31.
The Museum of American Glass at Wheaton Arts is hosting the first major exhibition of artifacts recovered from excavations along I-95 in Philadelphia. Numbering nearly a million thus far, the artifacts reveal over five thousand years of history.
AECOM is conducting excavations on behalf of Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration.
■ October 29 – Customer Appreciation Week begins in the Museum Stores. Visitors receive a “Mystery Discount” of 20 to 50 percent off their entire purchase (excludes food, candy and gift cards) in each store. Each visitor receives one free Eco tote bag if he/she is on the WheatonArts mailing list or would like to join the list. One customer will receive a $250 Shopping Spree at the WheatonArts Museum Stores. Eligibility based on making a purchase during Customer Appreciation Week. Up to three entries allowed per day (one per store). The prize winner’s name will be announced on November 6 at 5 p.m. but need not be present to win. Customer Appreciation Week continues through November 6. (An admission ticket is not required to shop the Museum Stores).
■ October 30 – Hallo-Wheaton Trick and Treat and Children’s Shows. 1p.m. to 4 p.m. Children and their families Trick or Treat in their Halloween costumes throughout WheatonArts. Children will have a chance to meet and take pictures with traditional costumed characters, such as Frankenstein’s Monster, the Mummy, the Grymm Witches, the too-tall scarecrow and many others. Throughout the grounds, actors from Mystic Realms, a theatric arts organization, (http://www.mysticrealms.com)will perform an eclectic mix of short skits capturing the Halloween season. The event is scare-free and family friendly. In case of inclement weather trick or treating will be inside the Event Center.
WheatonArts is open Tuesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Closed Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. General admission: Adults $10.00, $9.00 Senior Adults and $7.00 Students.
