4:15 pm – 5 pm
Get into the Artist’s Shoes workshop, where art and process will be explored through hands-on experience
WheatonArts invites all educators to explore creativity through a professional development program inspired by the groundbreaking invitational exhibit, “Emanation: Art + Process”. Participating artists include Mark Dion, Paula Hayes, Carolyn Healy and John Phillips, Donald Lipski, Virgil Marti, Michael Oatman, Judy Pfaff, Jocelyne Prince, Rob Wynne, and Mark Zirpel. Over the past year, each artist was invited to utilize the Museum of American Glass collection and Glass Studio resources to create work for the exhibit.
Attendees will learn about how historic collections, “behind the scenes” operations or ambient exhibits, and the experimentation with the medium of glass have inspired the participating artists. We will also observe how the inspirational shapes, colors or techniques are re-interpreted/re-invented in their contemporary work, and how meanings or lived experiences are visualized into a finished piece of art. Both the guided tour and the workshop will explore the many ways to observe, create and interpret art.
At the end of the program all participating teachers will be given Professional Development Certificates.
Registration is free but required for participation in this program. Deadline for Registration – May 22, 2015. To register online, click here.
