Emrys Berkower
Emrys Berkower began working with glass at Alfred University in 1992 and received a BFA with a concentration in painting and glass in 1996. While still a student at Alfred, he began working as a production and demonstrating glassblower at Wimberley Glass Works, outside of Austin Texas. After several years as a production manager there, he moved to Corning, NY to help establish Lost Angel Glass on historic Market Street. While helping to maintain and operate that facility for three and half years, he taught beginning and intermediate glass blowing classes at The Studio of the Corning Museum of Glass and demonstrated periodically for the Corning Museum’s Hot Glass Show. Over the years, Emrys has worked with designers such as Eva Ziesel to produce limited-edition glass objects and produced and sold his work to private collections, galleries, and retailers. Most recently his work was featured in Gumps’ California Crafts 2004 exhibition in San Francisco. Currently, he lives and works in Brooklyn, New York, where he continues to produce and show his work.
