Andrew Bearnot
A soi-disant “materialist,” Andrew Bearnot explores the aesthetic potential and technical intricacies of the material world. He is interested in craftsmanship as a practice of both encoding and producing knowledge. Andrew received a BFA in Glass from the Rhode Island School of Design and an ScB in Materials Engineering from Brown University. He was recipient of the Evelyn Jacobs Reisman Undergraduate Teaching and Research Award (UTRA) in Archeological Science at Brown, and the Jack and Lewis Rudin Internship at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in the Department of Scientific Research. Andrew recently returned from two years of practice-based research in Sweden and Denmark, where he studied Scandinavian traditions of glass craft and technology in a variety of contexts. He received fellowships from Fulbright IIE and the American-Scandinavian Foundation (ASF) in support of this work. Andrew is currently based in New York.
